Definition of Hypersomnia

Definition: This disorder is marked by excessive daytime sleepiness leading to an inability to stay awake. It may involve extended periods of sleep. The cause of this may be unknown and it may be called idiopathic hypersomnia.
Examples: Her hypersomnia causes her to sleep more than 12 hours per day.
