Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome

Definition: A circadian rhythm disorder in which the sleep period is delayed with respect to clock time. This means that sleepiness and sleep onset occur later in the evening and, in turn, alertness and sleep offset occur later in the morning than is conventional.
Examples: I have a hard time falling asleep before 2 a.m. because of delayed sleep phase syndrome.
