A great many books have been written about sleep. Of course, your preference will depend on your personal sleep habits. The books I have chosen cover everything from sleep in general to the more common disorders - insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, sleep paralysis. Most are written in an easy to understand style, several with a bit of added humor.
Sleep and Sleep Deprivation
Sleep lets the body rests, giving it the chance to repair the ravages of day to day living. Sleep is as necessary to maintaining life as food or exercise. Sleep deprivation can actually change the way the brain functions.
Books on Insomnia
There's a desire for sleep -- a need for sleep. Yet you toss and you turn and sleep seems an impossibility. You are suffering from insomnia. Insomnia is a very common sleep disorder that keeps you awake night after night and can lead to sleep deprivation.
Snoring and Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea means episodes of cessation of breathing during night time sleep that can occur as often as several hundred times in a night. Snoring is a warning that the sleeper may be a victim of sleep apnea.
The Dream Stage
The things that trouble our sleep - Dreams, nightmares, night terrors and sleep paralysis
Other Disorders and Syndromes
The list of disorders and syndromes seems endless, as does the list of excellent books on various topics. It's impossible to list them all. This is only a sampling.
