Exercise Is Important

Exercise is important for everyone. Don't be a couch potato (or, in the new terminology for the computer age: don't be a mouse potato!)

Exercise

  • If you haven't exercised recently (or ever) start slowly. Don't overdo. Start slow and gradually increase the level.
  • There are many forms of exercise - aerobics, swimming, jogging, sports, yoga - but the best exercise, one that the majority of people can do, is walking.
  • Again, join a support group. Many of the groups I mentioned under Nutrition also have exercise suggestions.
  • Join the local gym or seek out local yoga or aerobics group. Another program that has been gaining in popularity is Curves International.
  • Remember, anyone can exercise. Some have fewer choices and less mobility, but the more you exercise, the more you will be able to accomplish. Give it a try.

More Tips

  • Avoid alcohol. Never overindulge, and never close to bedtime. It may make you sleep at first but will disrupt sleep patterns later in the night.
  • Don't smoke. Smoking restricts breathing and causes many serious health problems. Smoking near bedtime may keep you awake as nicotine is a stimulant.
  • Get adequate sleep. I know for those with sleep disorders, this may seem like useless advice, but do the best you can to get all the sleep you can.
  • Think positive. Be an optimist, not a pessimist.

Always keep your health at the forefront of your mind for a happier, more vital life.
