Menopause and Poor Sleep

This should come as a surprise to no one - menopause can wreak havoc to sleep. In a study of 3000 menopausal women, 16% reported having trouble falling asleep and 41% said they work up many times during the night.
Interestingly, Caucasian women reported having the most trouble with sleep and menopause. Of course, changes in sleep were linked to changes in hormone levels, with poor sleep linked to decreases in estradiol and drops in follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) were linked to waking up several times at night.
